Ultrasonography

A diagnostic test that uses high-frequency sound waves to create two-dimensional images. It shows structures and their movement in real-time.

Special Considerations

If you are having an ultrasound of the abdomen, you will be asked to not drink or eat after midnight before your scheduled exam.

If you are a woman having an ultrasound of the pelvis, you should consume 32 ounces of water before your test. A full bladder is needed.
